More information:

The Carnival of Vilanova i la Geltrú, with more than 250 years of history, was declared a Heritage Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya in October 2010.

It starts on Maundy Thursday, but the most eagerly awaited kick-off is the Arrival of His Majesty the Carnival King on Friday. Sunday sees the arrival of the long-awaited Comparsas, its most emblematic event, with thousands of couples dancing with their txarangas through the streets of the city and the candy wars in the town hall square.

The events continue until Ash Wednesday, when one of the city's most emblematic festivals comes to an end.
