In February, the festival of Las Paces is celebrated in Villarta de San Juan, where thousands of rockets and fireworks are launched to thank the Virgin for the peace that has reigned in the town for more than 650 years.

PROGRAM OF THE "PEACES 2023"

From the 14th to the 22nd of January

  • At 9 pm: Novena and homily, in honor of the Virgin of Peace, in the San Juan Bautista Parish Church by: D. Óscar Martín Biezma

Saturday January 14

  • 11:30 a.m. Children's logs Meeting point in the Plaza de la Ermita. From there you will go to the mountains to collect the family. Then the download will take place, and then it will be the "lunch" for the participants.

Sunday January 15

  • 11:00 a.m. X POPULAR PACES RACE (see separate program)

Saturday January 21

  • 4:00 p.m. h Football match C.F Villartense – C.F. Michael Stephen
  • 12:30 p.m. Mobile disco CARNIVALIA ON TOUR

Monday, January 23

  • 10:00 a.m. Lunch in the Plaza de la Iglesia for all the young men and women who collaborate in bringing firewood in honor of the Virgen de la Paz.
  • 11:30 a.m. Floral offering to the Virgin of Peace, with the presence of Authorities, Queens, Ladies, "Villaharta" Music Band, Giants and Bigheads and "ALBOREA" Choir and Dance Group. From the square of La Paz.
  • 12:30 p.m. Official opening of the festivities. Proclamation and coronation of the Queens and Ladies of the Festivals. Presentation by Ana Belén Flores de la Torre and Marina Tabasco Asenjo.
    Next, he will give the proclamation "Paces 2,023" Mr. Joaquín Loro García-Filoso Presentation of the prizes corresponding to the PACES 2,023 Poster Contest. Performance of the Group of Choirs and Dances "ALBOREA".
  • 2:00 p.m. Cocktail with wine tasting donated by Cooperativa Ntra. Sra. Paz, Bodegas Isla and Manchego cheese, donated by Carnicería Isla "Quesos Puente Viejo".
  • 4:30 p.m. Solemn vespers in honor of the Blessed Virgin of Peace, by D. Óscar Martín Biezma. Then procession of the Virgin.
  • 11:00 p.m. Burning of the traditional and monumental HOGUERA in the Plaza de la Ermita. As is traditional, the bonfire will be lit with the flame of the Virgin's candle, which, representing the Light of Our Patron Saint, has been kept lit next to her image throughout the novena. The act will be enlivened by the "VILLAHARTA" Music Band and with the presence of Authorities, Queens and Ladies.
  • 12:30 p.m. Dance at the La Paz Auditorium, enlivened by the "MAXIMS" and "LA FACTORIA" Orchestras.

Tuesday January 24

  • 11:30 a.m. Solemn religious function sung by the "MAESTRO IBÁÑEZ" Choir of Valdepeñas.
    Next, Procession of the Blessed Virgin of Peace. At the exit of the Virgin, the Retirees and Pensioners Association will launch some white balloons and two white doves as a sign of peace. Subsequently, Operation 2000 is burned. And at the end of the procession, the traditional Puja de Brazos de la Virgen will take place from the Plaza de La Paz.
  • 8:30 p.m. Afternoon copla by Carmen Macareno and hers show "MI COPLA MAS FLAMENCA". In the La Paz Auditorium.
  • 11:30 p.m. Burning of a monumental collection of fireworks by the Pablo de Asturias Pyrotechnics Company, in the area of Operation 2,000. The show will be observed from the Mirador de la Iglesia Vieja.
  • 12:30 p.m. Dance in the Municipal Auditorium, enlivened by the "DANUBIOS" and "BAMBOLA" Orchestras.

Wednesday, January 25

  • 2:00 p.m. "Community Food": There will be a tasting of typical La Mancha dishes by the City Council. Regardless of the above, all those people who want to make porridge for their group of family and/or friends must register at the Town Hall, until January 19. The elaboration and preparation will take place in the surroundings of the Operation 2000 viewpoint and its tasting in the Municipal Auditorium. Each group will be provided with the necessary ingredients for the preparation of the porridge. The meat for the ingredients will be donated by Carnicería Gabriel and sons. The event will end at 5:30 p.m.
  • 12:30 p.m. Dance enlivened by the "LA GIRA" Orchestra.

  • 7:30 p.m. Concert of the "VILLAHARTA" Music Band, in the Municipal Auditorium.
  • 8:30 p.m. Theater "MY MOTHER-IN-LAW HAS BEEN LOST" by the Association of Democratic Women. The ticket price will be donated to the Operation 2000 Association.
