The Orujo Festival is a popular tradition that takes place in Potes, Cantrabria on the second weekend of November and where one of the oldest and most popular liquors in this region of Spain is tasted.

Friday, November 10

  • 11:00 a.m. Opening of the II Book Fair in the Jesús de Monasterio Park.
  • 5:30 p.m. Storytelling in the Jesús de Monasterio Park.
  • 8:00 p.m. Conference "Wines and Spirits of Liebana" by Alfonso Fraile, President of the Association of Sommeliers of Cantabria at the Lebaniegos Studies Center.
  • 9:00 p.m. Street Show "Big Dancers" by the El Carromato Company.
  • During the Afternoon-Night our Streets and Squares will be filled with traditional sounds and colors with the “La Montaña” Bagpipe Band and the Ronda Altamira Choir.

Saturday November 11

  • From the early hours of the morning and throughout the day there will be Folkloric Demonstrations through the streets of the Town.
  • 1:00 p.m. Reception by the Authorities of the Orujera Mayor 2023 Doña Carmen Machi, at the Lebaniegos Studies Center.
  • 5:30 p.m. Parade of Folkloric Groups, Regional Costume Associations and Gastronomic Brotherhoods Accompanying the Orujera Mayor 2023 Doña Carmen Machi, the Authorities and the Orujera Companies to the Plaza de La Serna.
  • 6:00 p.m. Public proclamation of Doña Carmen Machi as Orujera Mayor 2023 and Lighting of the Alquitara in the La Serna Tent.
  • At the end of the Proclamation, the Booths of the Orujera companies will be opened for the Tasting (until 10:00 p.m.)
  • 6:30 p.m. Folklore Performances.
  • 7:00 p.m. "Alma Mia" by Indigo Jazz, a tour of the most beautiful boleros of all time, at the Lebaniegos Studies Center.
  • 8:00 p.m. Commented tasting of the Orujos participating in the 2023 Alquitara de Oro Award.
  • 9:00 p.m. Performance by the "School of Heat" Group in the Serna Tent.

Sunday, November 12

  • 11:00 a.m. Lebaniega Floral, Textile and Wool Decoration Craft Workshop: Wreaths and Garlands by Beatus Ille in the Carpa de la Serna.
  • 12:00 p.m. Performance by the Entremontañas Dance Group - Virgen de la Cuesta de Los Corrales de Buelna.
  • 12:30 p.m. Communication of the Jury's Decision and Delivery of the 2023 "Alquitara de Oro" Award to the Winning Orujera Company.
  • 1:00 p.m. Tasting of Borono with Respinaldas.
