The origins of the Fiesta de la Vendimia date back to 1954. It was born with the aim of promoting the goodness of the wines obtained in the vineyards of Villanueva del Ariscal and was declared a Festival of Andalusian Interest in 2009.

On the occasion of these festivities, various events are organised prior to one of the most important moments: the treading of the grapes and the obtaining of the first must of the year. Among these activities is the "Pregón", in which the queen of the fiesta is crowned and her court of honour is presented, as well as the children's queen and her ladies, and the imposition of the insignia on the town crier and the children's foreman.

Another of the most significant moments takes place during the pilgrimage in which San Ginés, patron saint of viticulture, is taken to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Loreto. There, the first fruit of the vine is offered to the patron saint of Aljarafe.
