The Feast of the Shepherds is one of the most emblematic gatherings of a whole way of life. The celebration is an act of homage to this united community and brotherhood, which has broken the barriers of time. Celebrated since 1954, Cervatos de la Cueza honours its patron saint on the second weekend of October, the Virgen de los Remedios, with its festival of the 'Shepherds'.

Function of the Shepherds 2022

As has been the custom for 64 years, on Sunday the Rosary is prayed in honour of the Virgen de los Remedios. The prayer is followed by a procession after which the brotherhood and those attending the Rosary sing the Salve Popular.

Saturday 8th October

  • 11:00h Personalised badge workshop. San Miguel Tower

  • 13:00h Garlic soup competition with bacon and chorizo tasting: Torre San Miguel.
  • 17:00h Spanish Song Show (Eva Gijón). Cultural Centre; Theatre.
  • 19:00h Novena to the Virgen de los Remedios.
  • 22:00h Grupo Sedución; children and adults: Isaac Viciosa Sports Centre.
  • 23:30h Fireworks: Church surroundings.
  • After the fireworks, the Verbena continues.

Sunday 9th October

  • 11:30h Parade
  • 13:00h Holy Mass in honour of Nuestra de los Remedios officiated by the Bishop of Palencia: Monsignor D. Manuel Herrero, followed by Dances.
  • 17:30h Rosary, Procession and Popular Salve to Nuestra Señora de los Remedios.
