Program of Salinas Moors and Christians Festivities

More information:

The Moors and Christians Festivities in Salinas, held in honour of the patron saint, the Virgen del Rosario, take place during the month of May, normally coinciding with the last weekend of the month.

There are currently three groups: Contrabandistas, Piratas and Moros Laguneros.

The first to be founded was the Comparsa de Contrabandistas, which dates back to 1972, making it a fairly young festival. A year later, in 1973, the Comparsa de Piratas was founded and in 1976 the Comparsa de Moros Laguneros was created. With the arrival of the latter, the fiesta began to take shape so that it could be called Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians Festivities), as there were already groups from both sides.

The most important events are: the Entrada de Bandas, the traditional parades, the Retreta, the Embassies, the Procession and the Popular Dances.
