The Magic Autumn in the Ambroz Valley is a festival that celebrates the autumn season in these lands, during the months of October and November. It includes a series of cultural, sporting and social activities for the enjoyment of locals and visitors, with the active participation of the eight municipalities that make up the Ambroz Valley region, in the province of Cáceres (Extremadura).

This great popular festival has an average annual attendance of 40,000 tourists and visitors. It has been recognised as a Festival of National Tourist Interest since 2017, whose main objective is to promote tourism in the Ambroz region.

How is this festival celebrated?

The Magic Autumn in the Ambroz Valley is a great festival that is celebrated in the eight villages of the Cáceres region of the Ambroz Valley, during seven unforgettable weekends.

During the first weekend, the traditional Gran Calbotá takes place. It is a great collective celebration in which locals and visitors take part to taste dried figs, roasted chestnuts and sangria, with lively traditional music playing in the background.

This popular festival includes a wide variety of fun and entertaining activities that take place every weekend in November, aimed at all ages, tastes and preferences:

Origins of the celebration of the Magic Autumn in the Ambroz Valley

The Magic Autumn in the Ambroz Valley began in 1998, with the aim of disseminating and highlighting the natural charms and magic of autumn in the Ambroz Valley, as well as its culture and traditions.

In the following years, this festival has become increasingly popular, with visitors from all over the country and other parts of the world attending.

This event is organised annually by the Association for the Integral Development of the Ambroz Valley (DIVA). It is a non-profit organisation, made up of representatives of all the socio-economic agents of the region in order to preserve and highlight the attractiveness of the natural landscapes of this region.

  • Hervás and its Jewish quarter: the architectural constructions of the houses and the old fortress-church stand out.
  • Aldeanueva del Camino: located on the Silver Route, whose main attractions are the four Roman bridges over the river Ambroz.
  • Palace of Sotofermoso: located in Abadía.
  • Church of Santa María de Hervás: a religious building built on the site of an old Templar castle, with excellent views.
  • Baños de Montemayor: an ancient village with thermal waters, located in the north of the region. Remains of ancient Roman baths can be seen.
  • La Garganta: is a town located at an altitude of over 1,100 metres. There is an astronomical viewpoint called Corral de Los Lobos.
