Alhaurín el Grande will celebrate the first edition of the Alhaurin Courtyards Competition and Festival on June 1 and 2. An initiative of the company Century 21 with the collaboration of the Departments of Tourism and Economic Development of the Alhaurín el Grande City Council and other local companies, which aims to publicize the important heritage and cultural value that the town has, with treasures still to be seen. Discover what its traditional patios and streets of the historic center are like.

Up to twelve residents of Alhauri have joined this proposal and will open the doors of their homes to everyone to share their love for plants, flowers and in general for the beauty of their patios. To this end, three different routes have been established where visitors will be able to explore each corner of the municipality on foot in a simple and agile way, enjoying the beauty and charm of the historic center of Alhauri.

From the Town Hall of Alhaurín el Grande we invite all residents and visitors to participate and complete each route enjoying the patios of our town, cared for with care and down to the smallest detail for the occasion. Route through the Patios AlhaurinosStart the route of the Parios Alhaurinos at the event Information Point, which will be located in the Plaza Alta.

PATIOS ALHAURINOS ROUTE 1

From Plaza Alta take C/Molinos de Above and continue along C/Molinos de Above, 54; C/Peñarubia, 15; C/Casares, 24; C/Estepona, 14 and C/Estepona,8. As a suggestion you can continue through C/Burgos, C/Victoria, Plaza Virgen de Gracia, Mirador Huerto Mateo, Callejón Zape, Mirador Plaza del Convento, Casa Consistorial and Ermita de la Santa Vera-Cruz.

ALHAURINOS PATIOS ROUTE 2

From Plaza Alta we take C/Cruz to C/Albaicín, 37; C/Albaicín, 30. We suggest continuing along C/Echegaray and going down C/Virgen de la Paz until you reach the patios of C/ Gerald Brenan, 8; C/Gerald Brenan, 10. As a suggestion you can continue along C/Cilla to the Plaza Baja, where the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is located and behind this historic building you can find the Arco del shed (12th century). You can continue the route along C/ San Sebastián until you reach the Hermitage of San Sebastián.

ALHAURINOS PATIOS ROUTE 3

We suggest continuing from the end of Route 2, from the Ermita de San Sebastián, taking C/Nueva with a stop at the picturesque C/Mentage and continuing along C/Nueva until C/Calvario street which connects with the first patio of the Route 3. The first stop will be at C/Cañón, 6. Continue to the Fuente de Lucena or 'De los twelve caños' and continue along the Camino de Coín until the following patios located on Ctra. Coín, 21B and Ctra. Coín, 42.The different routes and addresses of the participating patios are indicated on the map.Culture of the Andalusian patiosIn Andalusia, the architectural fusion of the Roman and Muslim world has generated over the centuries a genuine culture of the 'Andalusian patios'.

The traditional home revolves around this interior patio, protected from the heat, with a fountain or well and full of vegetation to increase the feeling of freshness in the home. To this day they continue to fulfill the same function and their beauty in some cases is extraordinary and worthy of admiration. As the main exponent, the province of Córdoba has given good testimony to this by converting its traditional patio festival into Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The province of Málaga also has this patio culture and in this case, two foreign neighbors who currently live in the historic center of Alhaurín el Grande, and who are real estate advisors in the company Century 21, were captivated by many of these patios in their professional visits and decided to organize and sponsor this event that has the support and collaboration of the Alhaurín City Council el Grande and the sponsorship of other local companies that have contributed the awards such as Vivero Juan González, Almacenes Rueda García, Charcutería Alhcorte, Aceitunas Bravo, Miel Fuente del Sol and Apícola Milosi.

Contest prizes

The event aims to be participatory, offering different prizes both for the patios on the route and for the neighbors and visitors who take the routes and rate the best patios. To evaluate the patios on the route, each of them will have a QR code that can be You can scan them, offering the opportunity to rate them with a score between 1 and 5 points, with 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest.

To participate in the draw you will have to value at least 5 patios. The prizes for visitors will be the following: a batch of local olive oil sponsored by Century 21 and a batch of sweet wine from La Tasca sponsored by Almacenes Rueda. For their part , the most voted patios will obtain the following prizes: 50 euro gift voucher to choose between ceramics and plants at Vivero Juan González, a box of gourmet cheese assortment sponsored by Charcutería Alhcorte, a batch of olives sponsored by Aceitunas Bravo and two baskets of products sponsored by Miel Fuente del Sol and Apícola Milosi, all of them establishments in Alhaurín el Grande. From the Alhaurín el Grande City Council we invite you to enjoy during days 1 and 2 June, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., of the first Alhaurinos Parios Competition and Festival.
