Program of Pilgrimage of the Virgen del Rosario in El Cuervo de Sevilla

More information:

The pilgrimage in honour of the Virgen del Rosario of El Cuervo is now in its 62nd year, traditionally held on the last weekend of May and takes place in an enviable natural setting, in a park (Parque Rocío de la Cámara) of 12 hectares full of trees and all the services in which is located the Hermitage to Our Lady of the Rosary, inaugurated in 1992 and in whose construction the whole town participated. Sra. del Rosario, inaugurated in 1992 and in whose construction the whole village participated, watered by the waters of the Laguna de Los Tollos, the third largest lagoon in Andalusia and at the foot of the Gibalbín mountain.

The most outstanding moments are: the departure at around 10 o'clock in the morning, after the pilgrims' mass in the Church of San José, when more than fifty floats congregate in the street Fernando Cámara and the passing of the float of the Virgin is a great spectacle, In addition, the departure at 12 o'clock on Saturday night of the Virgin in a parihuela through the Parque Rocío de la Cámara accompanied by thousands of pilgrims and on the return journey, at around 10 o'clock at night, when she arrives back in the municipality and the whole town comes out to welcome the pilgrims and accompany the Virgin for the last few metres.

It is a very familiar pilgrimage in which visitors are very well received and most of them come back as it is a very welcoming festival.

2.- On the way there and back, the entrance and exit to the park will be closed, respectively, on the road to Arcos.
3.- Respect the dimensions of the car parks provided for cars, inside and outside the enclosure, always parking in battery and respecting, at the same time, the entrances and exits of the same in case of emergencies.

Environmental Norms

During the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of the Rosary we are many people who enjoy the park Rocío de La Cámara. In order to keep it in the best
conditions it would be necessary to comply with the following rules:

  • Do not nail any kind of object to the trees.
  • Do not cut, break or tie anything in the branches.
  • Do not introduce anything into the hollows of the trunks.
  • Respect the flora and fauna. Do not alter the environment.
  • Do not enter the lagoon basin or areas that have not been set aside for public use. There are nesting birds.
  • Leave the rubbish generated in the containers provided.

The holm oaks in the Parque Rocío de la cámara are suffering from the so-called decay, a phytosanitary process that in a short period of time causes the death of the holm oaks. Any damage applied to the tree is a factor that worsens its health, helping diseases to penetrate inside the tree and accelerating its death. Sticking nails into the trunk or breaking branches causes wounds that make it easier for diseases to enter the tree. Inserting rubbish into the trunk causes internal contamination of the tree, making it weaker.
