A unique festival that you can't miss, in the festivities of the Patron Saint of the town the Mask is chased, a grotesque character that the little ones will try to remove a bell, and on the way up the hill they will throw apples at him. Music and orchestras will be present at nightfall, and religious acts during the day.

Wednesday, 1st February

  • 12:00 h. Visit of the Mask to the Public School and the Nursery School, so that the little ones can get to know the character of the Mask up close. 
    Rattles will be given to the little ones and they will be able to ask questions to the Mask and make forums with it.

Thursday, 2nd February

  • 12:00 h. THE MASK will take off from the Town Hall for the first time and will go through the streets of the village, accompanied by the boys and girls of Ateca. The more daring ones will try to take away some of the rattlesnakes, but beware, as is tradition, they will not let them be caught easily and will try to stop them with their sabres.
  • 18:00 h. In the Municipal Pavilion, TRADITIONAL CHOCOLATADA prepared by the Atecanas Housewives' Association group "Isabel y sus chicas", accompanied by a portion of churros and bread.
  • 18:30 h. In the Municipal Pavilion, afternoon performance by the 'NUEVA ERA' Orchestra. At the end of the evening, distribution of the traditional ROSCÓN DE SAN BLAS for the elderly.
  • 20:30 h. Inauguration of a statue of "La Mascara" at the roundabout on Avenida San Blas. Made by our neighbour Julián Minguillón Constante.
  • 21:00 h. In the Plaza de España, lighting of the traditional bonfire by one of the San Blas prebostes, the Atecano Josián Minguillón Constante. 
    Blas, the Atecano Josús Duco Yague. Afterwards, SECOND LIGHTING OF THE MASCARA around the Plaza de España and its surroundings. We will make the traditional chorus around the bonfire. We will eat some roast potatoes with sausage and chorizo.

  • 01:00 h. In the Pavilion Muricipal dance for all enlivened by the orchestra NUEVA ERA. Free entrance.

Friday, 3rd February

  • 11:00 h. Mass in honour of our patron saint San Blas in Santa María Church. 
  • Afterwards, procession to the chapel accompanied by the AGRUPACIÓN MUSICAL ATECANA band.
    Once at the hermitage, the traditional ascent of the hill by the Mask will take place. The Mask will face a rain of apples that the boys and girls of the village will throw from the top of the hill to prevent it from climbing, just until the moment when the Mask's helpers give the order to stop and apples can no longer be thrown.
    At the top of the hill, he will join all those gathered there to form a circle around the Mask and sing the traditional song of the Acolea Bridge.
  • 18:00h. In the Municipal Pavilion, performance by the LA FRAGUA Orchestra.
  • 20:30 h. In the swimming pool area, lighting of a collection of FIREWORKS (the ones that had to be cancelled during the September fiestas).
  • 01:00 h. In the Municipal Pavilion, Discomóvil.

Saturday, 4th February

  • 17:00 h. In the Municipal Pavilion, a variety of bouncy castles for the little ones.
  • 01:00 h. In the Municipal Pavilion, Disco-mobile.
