A unique festival that you can't miss, in the festivities of the Patron Saint of the town the Mask is chased, a grotesque character that the little ones will try to remove a bell, and on the way up the hill they will throw apples at him. SAN BLAS PROGRAM AT ATECA 2024

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1

  • 12:00 p.m. Visit of the Mask to the Kindergarten and the Public School, so that the little ones can get to know the character of the Mask up close. Bells will be given to the little ones, and they will be able to ask the Mask questions and take photos with it.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2

  • 12:00 p.m. FIRST DEPARTURE OF THE MASK from the Town Hall, which will make the traditional tour through the streets of the town, accompanied by the boys and girls of Ateca. The most daring will try to remove a rattle, but be careful, as is tradition, they will not let you catch it easily and will try to prevent it with their saber.
  • 6:00 p.m. In the Municipal Pavilion, TRADITIONAL CHOCOLATE WITH CHURROS, prepared by “Isabel and her girls.”
  • 6:30 p.m. In the Municipal Pavilion, performance in the afternoon session of the LA FANIA Orchestra.
  • At the end, distribution of the traditional ROSCON DE SAN BLAS for the elderly.
  • 9:00 p.m. In the Plaza de España, the traditional bonfire was lit by one of the provosts of San Blas, the Atecano Jesús Lozano Montón. Next, SECOND EXIT OF THE MASK through the Plaza de España and its surroundings. We will do the traditional circle around the bonfire and eat some pieces of chorizo and sausage, accompanied by roast potatoes. All this enlivened by the ATECA Charanga.
  • 01:00 a.m. In the Municipal Pavilion, performance by the LA FANIA orchestra. Free entrance.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3

  • 11:00 a.m. Mass in honor of our patron Saint Blaise in the Church of Santa María, sung by the “SCHOLA CANTORUM” choir of the University of Zaragoza.
    Next, PROCESSION to the hermitage accompanied by the ATECANA MUSICAL GROUP Band.
  • Once at the hermitage, the traditional “climb to the Hill” will be carried out by the Mask, who will face a rain of apples on his way up that the boys and girls of the town will throw at him from the top of the hill to prevent his ascent. , right until the moment when the responsible people on the hill give the order to stop, and apples can no longer be thrown. When you reach the top of the Hill, you will join together with everyone gathered there to form the traditional circle around the Mask and sing the song of the Alcolea Bridge.
  • 5:30 p.m. In the Church of Santa Maria, concert by the “SCHOLA CANTORUM” choir from the University of Zaragoza.
  • 6:00 p.m. In the Municipal Pavilion, bouncy castles and a children's party for the kids.
  • 01:00 a.m. In the Municipal Pavilion, performance by the VALPARAISO orchestra. Free entrance.
